Absolute right decision!I had a wonderful time studying with Serena (the head teacher).Serena and I already exchanged many questions on what I want to focus on per WhatsApp long before I arrived. We also had a casual 30 min talk on ZOOM to assess my Chinese level before class. Already then, she sent me a whole page of vocabulary and grammar of things I intended to say in the meeting but which came out wrong.I was just staying long enough in Singapore for 6 studying days taking private lessons. I really wished, I could have stayed longer. However, even that short time boosted my rusted Chinese tremendously. I now feel very confident taking my next HSK exam, which before - I had huge doubts about - now I even enroll in one higher HSK level!Serena is an exceptionally motivated teacher, who tries everything to make her student(s) understand Chinese, but also Singaporean/Northern Chinese/Southern Chinese/Hongkong/Taiwanese culture better. On all my study stays we went out to have lunch together (practicing casual talk but also) enjoying each other's company. She is a very impressive woman and even took me with her (in her free time) to a contemporary Chinese art exhibition, as well as to her Thaiboxing class. xDThe working conditions are also great. Her office is located in city-center Chinatown (so you can enjoy Chinese food and culture all around you). It is a Just-Co co-working space, which provides you with free wifi, teas, snacks and freshly machine-grounded cappuccinos. What I didn't know before I arrived: One is also allowed to use the co-working facilities 24/7. So you don't have to search for a quiet, but not super expansive café to study in the afternoon! You can just sit opposite of the important-looking business man with a suit on and sipping a coffee and recapping what you have learned in the morning - for free - even on the weekends if you are as motivated as I was (then you will have the office almost to yourself).Even better, you are also allowed to go to any other of the numerous Just-Co offices downtown (on weekdays and you must enter before 18:00). I really recommend this to combine a bit of tourism into your study sessions. I attached pictures of two especially fancy ones with sea-view.[Be aware that you might feel utterly underdressed and even a bit cheeky sitting there in cosy clothes simply studying Chinese among all those "important people".
